Independent claims

What is actually asserted, verbatim.

Claim 1

1. A method for managing power on an electric power grid, comprising: providing a server constructed and configured for network communication with at least one power consuming device in the electric power grid, wherein the server comprises a database; the server issuing a power control event message responsive to a power control command, wherein the power control command comprises a power inquiry command requesting the server to determine an amount of power available for temporary reduction or increase from supply; the database storing information comprising power consumed by the at least one power consuming device and power to be reduced to the at least one power consuming device; the server generating a supply equivalence value for each of the at least one power consuming device based on an actual value of power to be reduced to each of the at least one power consuming device, wherein each supply equivalence value is a monetary supply equivalence value based on measurement and verification, and wherein each supply equivalence value provides for a curtailment value as a supply to the electric power grid; and the server disabling a power flow to one or more of the at least one power consuming device based on the supply equivalence value for each of the at least one power consuming device.

Claim 8

8. A system for managing power on an electric power grid, comprising: a server constructed and configured for network communication with at least one power consuming device in the electric power grid, wherein the server comprises a database; wherein the server is operable to issue a power control event message responsive to a power control command, wherein the power control command comprises a power inquiry command requesting the server to determine an amount of power available for temporary reduction or increase from supply; wherein the database is operable to store information comprising power consumed by the at least one power consuming device and power to be reduced to the at least one power consuming device; wherein the server is operable to generate a supply equivalence value for each of the at least one power consuming device based on an actual value of power to be reduced to each of the at least one power consuming device, wherein each supply equivalence value is a monetary supply equivalence value based on measurement and verification, and wherein each supply equivalence value provides for a curtailment value as a supply to the electric power grid; and wherein the server is operable to disable a power flow to the at least one power consuming device based on the supply equivalence value for each of the at least one power consuming device.

Claim 15

15. A system for managing power on an electric power grid, comprising: a server constructed and configured for network communication with at least one grid element in the electric power grid, wherein the server comprises a database, wherein the at least one grid element comprises at least one power consuming device and at least one power supplying device; wherein the server is operable to issue a power control event message responsive to a power control command through Internet Protocol (IP)-based messaging, wherein the power control command comprises a power inquiry command requesting the server to determine an amount of power available for temporary reduction or increase from supply; wherein the database is operable to store information comprising power consumed by each of the at least one power consuming device, power to be reduced to each of the at least one power consuming device, power supplied by each of the at least one power supplying device, and power to be supplied by each of the at least one power supplying device; wherein the database is operable to generate a supply equivalence value based on the power to be reduced to each of the at least one power consuming device and the power to be supplied by each of the at least one power supplying device, wherein each supply equivalence value is a monetary supply equivalence value based on measurement and verification, and wherein each supply equivalence value for the at least one power consuming device provides for a curtailment value as a supply to the electric power grid; and wherein the server is operable to disable a power flow to the at least one grid element based on the supply equivalence value for each of the at least one grid element.

Abstract

Systems and methods for managing power supplied over an electric power grid by an electric utility and/or other market participants to a multiplicity of grid elements and devices for supply and/or load curtailment as supply, each of which having a supply equivalence value associated with its energy consumption and/or reduction in consumption and/or supply, and wherein messaging is managed through a network by a coordinator using IP messaging for communication with the grid elements and devices, with the energy management system (EMS), and with the utilities, market participants, and/or grid operators.

Named in one of these suits? A prior-art search is commissioned once and serves every defendant who shares it. The examiner's own search record is free on the tools page, and your first preliminary search is free — one claim, back within 24 hours — so you know whether there is art the Office never saw before anyone pays for more. Flat fees: $2,500$899 for the independent claims, $5,000$1,500 for every asserted claim.

This page is assembled from public records — federal court dockets and the patent's own file — and is updated as the case list changes. It states what the record shows and is not an opinion on the validity or infringement of any claim. Patent data via Google Patents; docket data via CourtListener.
