Independent claims

What is actually asserted, verbatim.

Claim 1

1. A system for managing an electric power grid, comprising: a server, including a processor and a memory, wherein the server receives a power control command requiring a reduction of an amount of power consumed by at least one power consuming device; at least one client device in network communication with the server; wherein the server issues a power control message to the at least one client device in response to the power control command; wherein the power control message causes a reduction of a flow of power to the at least one power consuming device; wherein a power supply value (PSV) for the at least one power consuming device is generated at the server or the at least one client device; wherein the PSV is a value relating to a reduction in consumed power based on a measured participation of the at least one power consuming device in at least one load control event; wherein the measured participation of the at least one power consuming device is determined at the at least one client device and transmitted to the server in at least one participation message; and wherein the at least one client device includes at least one smart thermostat.

Claim 8

8. A system for managing an electric power grid, comprising: a server, including a processor and a memory, wherein the server receives a power control command requiring a reduction of an amount of power consumed by at least one power consuming device; at least one client device in network communication with the server; wherein the server issues a power control message to the at least one client device in response to the power control command; wherein the power control message causes a reduction of a flow of power to the at least one power consuming device; wherein the server or the at least one client device generates a power supply value (PSV) for the at least one power consuming device; wherein the PSV is an actual value including a reduction in consumed power based on measured participation of the at least one power consuming device in at least one load control event; wherein the measured participation of the at least one power consuming device is determined at the at least one client device and transmitted to the server in at least one participation message; and wherein the server generates a total energy savings for one of the at least one load control event based on the PSV for each of the at least one power consuming device.

Claim 15

15. A system for managing an electric power grid, comprising: a server, including a processor and a memory, wherein the server receives a power control command requiring a reduction of an amount of power consumed by at least one power consuming device; at least one client device in network communication with the server; wherein the server issues a power control message to the at least one client device in response to the power control command; wherein, based on the power control message, the at least one client device causes a reduction of a flow of power to the at least one power consuming device; wherein the server or the at least one client device generates a power supply value (PSV) for the at least one power consuming device; wherein the PSV is an actual value including a reduction in consumed power based on measured participation of the at least one power consuming device in at least one load control event; and wherein the at least one client device transmits an acknowledgement for participation of the at least one power consuming device in the at least one load control event in real time or near real time.

Claim 23

23. A system for managing an electric power grid, comprising: a server, including a processor and a memory, wherein the server receives a power control command requiring a reduction of power consumption by at least one power consuming device; at least one client device in network communication with the server; wherein the server issues a power control message to the at least one client device in response to the power control command; wherein, based on the power control message, the at least one client device causes a reduction of run-time cycles for the at least one power consuming device; wherein the server generates a power supply value (PSV) for the at least one power consuming device; wherein the PSV is an actual value including a reduction in the run-time cycles based on measured participation of the at least one power consuming device in at least one load control event; wherein the measured participation of the at least one power consuming device is determined at the at least one client device and transmitted to the server in at least one participation message; and wherein the reduction of the run-time cycles for the at least one power consuming device is based on user parameters for the at least one power consuming device in a customer profile associated with the at least one power consuming device.

Abstract

Systems and methods for managing power supplied over an electric power grid by an electric utility and/or other market participants to multiple power consuming devices, each of which having a Power Supply Value (PSV) associated with its energy consumption and/or reduction in consumption. Power flow to the power consuming devices is selectively enabled and disabled, or power-reduced thereto, by one or more controllable devices controlled by the client device. Power control messages from a controlling server indicate amounts of electric power to be reduced and an identification of at least one controllable device to be instructed to disable or reduce a flow of electric power to one or more associated power consuming devices.

Named in one of these suits? A prior-art search is commissioned once and serves every defendant who shares it. The examiner's own search record is free on the tools page, and your first preliminary search is free — one claim, back within 24 hours — so you know whether there is art the Office never saw before anyone pays for more. Flat fees: $2,500$899 for the independent claims, $5,000$1,500 for every asserted claim.

This page is assembled from public records — federal court dockets and the patent's own file — and is updated as the case list changes. It states what the record shows and is not an opinion on the validity or infringement of any claim. Patent data via Google Patents; docket data via CourtListener.
